I am a freelance writer and independent consultant based in Washington, DC. When I’m not doing my own writing, I help other people write and edit books, papers, articles, essays, op-eds, blogs, podcasts, speeches, interviews, or other content. I've worked with academics, development banks, aid organizations, think tanks, advocacy orgs, and other clients. While my specialties are economics, public policy, and international development, I'm always excited to learn something new.
Previously, I spent six years as an economist and senior advisor at the U.S. Treasury Department, focusing on international macroeconomic policy and development finance. I started my career in publishing, then helped establish the VAD Foundation – nonprofit founded by former refugee Valentino Achak Deng and author Dave Eggers that runs education and community development programs in South Sudan. I has a master’s in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School, where I focused on political and economic development, and a bachelor’s from Stanford University, where I studied English literature and creative writing.
